Since then, hundreds of thousands of talented professionals from all over the world have used the Express Entry system to permanently relocate to Canada and eventually become citizens. Please note that it will take approximately three years of residing in Canada as a permanent resident before you are eligible for Canadian citizenship. But first, how do you become a permanent resident?
Express Entry administers three immigration programs:

- The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for skilled workers with international job experience who must meet education and other standards.
- The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for qualified, skilled workers who have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification.
If you are eligible for one of the programs listed above, you can also apply for the Provincial Nominee Program through Express Entry. If you are nominated, you will receive bonus points and will be requested to apply as soon as possible.
