Next, how much are the flight ticket and general living expenses? What’s the cost of an apartment. These are important parts of the trip that needs to be sorted out.

B. Timing

Timing is very important and whether you are relocating or simply going on a trip you must ensure that you have set your calendar and you know exactly when you want to travel. When you plan your time properly you could even get a price reduction on air tickets and hotels.

C. Packing

The principle of packing for long term travel is always to pack light. However, if you can afford to pack heavy for trips to places like Canada and New Zeland where clothing can be unusually expensive then, by all means, do so. For short trips, you still need to maintain light clothing but don’t forget toiletries as well because they are very essential.

2. Money Money Money

Literally, everything mentioned in No 1 requires money. Travelling requires funds, whether you are going for leisure or for a long stay. Only those who are naive would think they don’t need money. Safety is one of the greatest concerns when travelling. Whether you are travelling alone or not, it is important that you take safety precautions. Most countries are safe however there are a few things that you should always do;

– Get health insurance.
– All valuables should be kept out of sight.
– Never carry all your bank cards [for short trips] or all your cash. Whenever you move around always leave some behind.
– Avoid unnecessary risk e.g walking in a dark ally.
