FAQ CANADA IMMIGRATION

REAL LIFE QUESTIONS AND ANSWER

PF: Hello there, I would like to better understand the FSW express entry as regards to one-year work experience. Do you have to be working currently as at the time of application or is it possible to use past experience as long as it is up to or more than a year of work?

ANS: As far as you have worked 1 year in the last 10 years the work experience counts. You do not have to have a current job to apply for Federal Skilled Worker [FSW].

AD: What is the best city to choose under the skilled worker stream?

ANS: As new immigrants under the federal skilled worker stream, it is easy to confuse about the cities to choose as a destination. There are different choices to be made and some have chosen cities based on criteria’s like; the cost of living, availability of family or friends and convenience while there are others who have chosen based on opportunities available, goals and their career path.

For Immigrants with a provincial nomination, you have to stay in the province that nominated you to fulfil the obligation tied to the nomination.

TL: I was supposed to come to Canada in September this year 2020 for a year’s program but due to the CORONA VIRUS my chosen program has been fully moved online. I have been given the option to either defer my admission or enrol for online classes. Personally, I wanted to do the online classes please help me with the right decision?

ANS: If you already have the Visa and study permit then you can proceed with studying online but if you are yet to apply for a study permit and visa then here’s our advice:

  1. You can choose to study online however you may most likely finish your course of study online.
  2. You can defer your admission if you would rather a physical study.
  3. The schools make the decision so you can enquire as to the future of the study just in case you are thinking of starting online first rather than deferring.

GY: Please, I do not know or have anyone living in Canada and I don’t know the criteria needed for me to go to Canada to study and work… please what do you think?

Going to Canada is mainly based on the following criteria:

  • Age
  • Educational Qualification

ANS: Provincial Nomination is managed by the different provinces across Canada and each of these provinces has their specified requirements and unique timelines. There are determinants however which includes the following;

  1. How fast an applicant submits an application after getting notification of interest or letter of advice to apply

Bear in mind that each province has a different timeline, some can take as long as 6 months to give nomination and some can take 30 to 45 days to give nomination.

SL: If someone is in the express entry pool and gets say 464 without their spouse but they release score and it says 440, can one include spouse before accepting the ITA? Also, if the proof of funds has just been in your account for say 1 month before you get ITA, is there still need for a letter of explanation? Will appreciate your response thanks

IF the Proof of Fund is a large deposit from another source, you have to provide a letter of explanation

ANS: There’s no special step because you graduated from the US with an MSC, all immigration requirements are the same. You would have to write the IELTS exam and evaluate your credentials. Also, you need to note that since you lived outside your country of origin for more than 6 months, you would need to apply for police clearance.

BD: Ace I want to ask if it is possible for a person without any experience in the Agric sector to apply for a job in the Agric industry in Canada?

IO: Please bear with me, my question is long – I have a sibling living abroad who would like to bring me in on the caregiver program. What criteria do I have to meet and what criteria does she have to meet (She just gave birth and she’s not working yet, would this affect?) If yes, how many months does she have to work? I would like to know the details please, thank you.

ANS: For your sibling to hire you as a caregiver considering that the process is a complex one, she would have to advertise the job across all job portals in Canada and prove to the immigration officers that there are no Canadians to take that job. She would also be assessed on varying factors.

You the candidate would also be assessed on your educational qualification, work experience as a child caregiver etc.…
